The starter film of Alexander McCall Smith's book tonight on BBC 1 and BBC HD was even better than I had expected.
The writer was a medical lawer based in Zimbabwe although following the extreme problems experienced in that country as a result of Robert Mugabe's policies he came to the UK a couple of years ago. Hopefully the Zim elections next week might improve the situation but thats not at all assured. It could even get worse!
Next year there is to be a serialised further 13 episodes! I am already looking forward to that!
Jill Scott and Lucian Matsuwe were absolutely excellent as were all the others involved in the filming.
The only critiscsm I can have is that most of the production sound was in mono rather then full suround sound.
I can only hope it will be issued on an HD DVD.
