Hi All,

I'm after some advice on the above if possible?

I have a halstead wickes combi 2000 and I've just lost my heating and hot water, after opening the front of the panel I have noticed my Auto air valve is leaking.

I replaced the diverter and the pressure Release valve about 3 months ago and to date have had no problems until today.

my question is would the leaking AAV be the sole cause for losing everything ?

I'm not getting a lockout on the system and when i reset the ignition it starts to work but the system is making a terrible noise. The boiler will fire for around 15 seconds then cut out again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :D

If the AAV is leaking won't you have lost the pressure. I thought boiler would not fire unless certain pressure was present.
I also thought the AAV had a screw cap that could be used to seal it, although I know it should not be sealed when filling system.

The cap on mine wont move at all its solid. I have had to top the pressure up as I was unaware at the time of the leak until I noticed a patch of water.

When I fire the boiler up the initial pressure is there but it does not stay on long enough for any change in pressure to be shown. (if that makes sense) ?

Im hoping that a new AAV will fix the problem but I'm unsure if this is the sole cause of me losing both water and CH.
