Dense Fibre Matting. Just high density rockwool. Comes in various densities. I used 100Kg/cubic metre in another room. It stops the higher frequency sounds and is also good for heat insulation and fireproofing (as long as you hold in place with something that won't burn, like chicken wire).
Sound stop boards are a bit pricey. i've used 16.5mm rubber backed board before, which is good. It's mad with a gypsum/cement mix to add density. very heavy, even in the 1200x1200 size. Think I'll probably go for 2 layers of regular 12.5mm though. The main sound-deadening will come from the DFM and floating ceiling
 
Have seen a rubber backed board used over floor boards....apparently worked well
