noisy tap

Not sure if this is the right place............

Yesterday, after the hot tap was turned on in the bath there was a racket coming from the pipes. It stopped about 20 seconds after the tap was turned off, then later on it did it again, but this time when the hot tap in the kitchen sink was turned on. It happened about 10 seconds after the tap was turned on and stopped after about 20 seconds when the tap was turned off. Could it be air?

Could be water hammer, Ball valve in the cold water storage take might need replacing. Thats of course if you do have that sort of set-up and not a combi boiler.
