This is my first post so please HEEEELP!
Have a victorian house and i want the cellar to be a useable room. Its not that damp but the old limewash isnt looking too good... some salts on them etc in one corner.
I have popped in two air bricks to increase the air flow and a rad and that musty cellar smell has gone.
Not using the membraine system as too much and not sure it warrents it, and unsure about these cellar paints.
What i propose is....
Use treated timber battens and then plasterbord and skim. for the floor (its brick at the mo) level off the uneven bits with self level concrete or sand. dpm and floating floor with a carpet on it.
Cant loose height so no insulation on the floor.
Possibly run a dehumidifier with a small bilge/condensate pump on a timer if it feels a bit damp.
Any thoughts.... anyone done something similar?
