hey guys, not strictly DIY but as theres some knowledgable heads on here im sure you'l know. not had any experience with this before so hopefully someone can help.

am fitting an rcd 3 phase socket outlet, the outlet is made by menekes and is 32A 4 pin (3 phases and the earth). it incorparates a doepke RCCB rated at 40A and 30mA.

My question is on the rcd there is a nuetral terminal. im thinking i need to make the supply cable 4 core (3 phases + nuetral, SWA as the earth- all other circuit calcs are ok). am i right in thinking that the rcd needs this nuetral in order to operate as just supplying the 3 phases would be no good?

if yes whats the 'science' ehind how these rcd's work as apose to normal ones in single phase?
