If you isolate the water inside and open a tap with a DCV in it does it still drain the water out abit. Or does the check valve stop it from draining at all.

The water will stop at the first check valve, wherever that first valve is located within the the valve body, there may be a little water between the 2nd check valve and the ball valve which would drain but that would be next no nothing.

So if you turned the inside insolation off and opened it. It still won't have much effect in stoping it freezing?
