Paint (Cement Board) Behind New Stove

New stove fitted with Hardiebacker fire cement board to line chamber.

Does this need to be primed and can I paint with normal emulsion or should I go for a specialist paint?
 
Not sure I guess as its a stove chamber it will get pretty high.

Installer suggested that normal emulsion and no primer would do, but I don't know if that makes much sense.
