Hi is it ok to paint vinyl silk emulsion over matt emulsion..i have just painted matt emulsion on a friends wall which was lining paper ..the matt has dried great and took well ,but now she wants to have a shine to it so she can wash it down if it gets a little grubby and has now asked me to paint over it with vinyl silk ..Both would be magnolia ..

Cheers :p

Vinyl silk will go straight over matt no probs - (but not the other way round).

You'll need at least two coats as the first tends to soak in and you won't get a completely smooth finish, also worth diluting by about 10% which will help reduce roller marks. First coat will probably take twice as much paint as the second coat.

You say it was lined originally so you should have a good surface to work to, but just be aware that the shiny finish will show up the slightest blemish.
