Hi, this was a message that i posted in under 'decorating'
It seems that this is too complicated for the guys there... can someone please help?

An extension was added to my house. Now about 2 years later, we can see cracks all over (which I presume is normal). Here are my questions:
1) Is it normal that in couple of places the coving is cracked as well? The coving is made of a kind of MDF.
2) The cracks are very narrow and more or less straight, I would think that this means that it is the plaster only that is cracked and not the brick work?
3) Do I need to make the cracks a bit wider so it can be repaired properly?
4) As I am not a constructor, I do not need a big amount of material (meaning that the price is not so critical), what would be the best/easiest to use to repair these cracks?
5) The skirting boards in some places are not flush with the wall. Same with some doorframes. Can I use the same material to fill in the gaps?
6) Any tips?
Thanks

hey albert

i'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but i can answer No 5 - use decorators calke (spelling?) - well i've used it and it worked fine :O)

as for cracks in plaster i've used good 'ole no nails(for cracks no more than 1 mm wide) it's all i had to hand at the time and i really wanted to paint the wall the next day - it seems to have done the job - ok that was a month ago or so but they still haven't returned (you can carry on sniggering now  )

Thanks king, you where the first brave man to reply and may be the only one... you deserve a queen

who you calling a queen?? oh sorry misread you - lol

got a queen :D unfortunately her idea of painting skirting boards leaves a lot to be desired (also leaves quite a lot of paint running onto the floor as well - D'oh)

luck mate :O)
