Just to say to you all that came back with valued info as regards my little problem, many thanks.

As i said it was late at night, and the descriptions of my fault were "Crap"

It was the overheat stat i was thinking of, it had been reset god knows how many times, and i do recall something about it going out of calibration. Thanks.

Points taken with pleasure, boiler was range rated, and gas pressure ok.
DHW exchanger was not blocked nor system.

I strongly suspect O/H stat if thats what they tend to do, and or NTC.

Anyhow spoke with customer, but to be quite honest he wasn't that interested, so what could do.

The ironic thing about all this is, the guy is a private dentist, you would have thought the dosh these people charge, he would invested in a half decent boiler in his dental practice.

Thanks to you all again, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you all.

Dave.
