power craft jetwasher

i have a powercraft jetwasher that i purchased from aldi's in 2005 this is a rebranded Karcher washer a Karcher to all intense and purpose, the problem it has devoloped is this with the power on and water connected, it has started making a '' thump thump thump noise '' this only occurs when the appliance is standing still and not being used, once the trigger on the lance is pressed the noise goes, however the pressure is reduced somewhat, there doesnt seem a whole lot wrong with it, i have been reading up on it a bit, and the '' pressure relief spring '' keeps getting a mention, can anyone help me regards Dave
