Can you please recomend a suitable sealer for exterior grade ply to use prior to wall tiling? Also, is there a minimum thickness ply to use when covering the wall (it had lots of holes)

Thanks

you can use a pva sealer but ,check that the adhesive product allows this

I would use 12mm on battens , you could also use aquapanel tile backer board instead of ply , !

I'd strongly advise against pva, I know loads of people use it and it works ok but if it gets wet you may have problems.

I'd use a specific tile primer howtex, bal e.t.c. all do one not very expensive and the right product for the job.

What are you sticking the ply to the wall with? The thickness of the ply is a bit dependant on what your doing with it, if its for boxing in and your using light tiles then 12 mm would probably be ok, but I like to use 18mm well fixed so there's less likelyhood of thermal flex (you'll get some but not too much...)

Make sure you use a good quality flexible adhesive as well (non slip would help too if its walls your tiling.)

Good luck with it.
