Hello,

I have only ever changed the washer on a cold tap before. I turned the stop-cock off and ran the tap until no more water came out, then I changed it.

In our new house we havea combination bolier, and I was wondering how you would change a washer on a HOT tap. Would turning the stop-cock off not cause the boiler to break by trying to heat fresh air, or does it work on pressure or something?

I would really appreciate a simple straight forward explaination, purely for my understanding.

Cheers.

You dont have to turn off the stopcock on a combi. Have a look under the boiler where the mains water enters the boiler there will be a valve, If in doubt consult manufactures instructions as to what pipe it is.And remeber to turn the boiler off first.
