Was attempting to change a (very old!) radiator valve and needed to change the tail too.

Radiator spanner is now just spinning on the inside of the radiator tail. Any suggestions as to how to get it out?

I've also tried this which seemed to work a little but again now just spinning:

Nothing to grip hold of on the tail.

Any suggestions as to how to get it out? Or is a new radiator the only solution?

There's no way the old valve will go back on now, so some advice as to how I could get my heating back on would be much appreciated!

If your rad spanner is tapered tap it in with a hammer to get more grip / bite.
Worst case cut the nut enough to break it apart by putting a screwdriver in the cut and twisting (similar technique to removing olives from a pipe) Then you can get grips on the tail.

As above..... Cut nut and use Stilsons on the tail.

Some really stubborn ones need heat as well.
