Radiators on stud walls or external walls?

Hi, as part of a new build I'm wondering where to have the radiators positions for the lounge.

Is it simply down to the layout planned for the room as to where the rads are fitted or is it recommended that they go on the external walls rather than against an internal stud wall?

Now that properties are well insulated positioning rads under windows is not so important ( although I normally would put them there! )

An outside wall normally gives an easier and stronger fixing than a stud wall.
