i moved into a property with a Ravenheat 120T combi boiler. It makes a banging noise when the mains water pressure is low and the hot water tap is turned on. This lasts for about 30 seconds and then stops or brings an error warning up on the boiler.

I don't know why but this doesn't happen when then central heating is on.

I am now hoping to sell the property but want to solve the problem before i put it on the market.

I am going to get a gas engineer out, but want an idea is wrong before doing so.

Any help will be much appreciated.

thanks

Dave

What is your "normal" mains pressure, and how low does it get when the problem occurs?
Was the boiler there when you bought the house?

i am not sure what the pressure is, but the flow can be very low - the supply from the main in the street feeds 5 terrace houses on my row.

The noise only lasts 30 seconds or so and stops - or cuts the boiler out as a result of error.

The boiler was there when i moved in - however i assume i had no problem as a result of the central being on whenever i turned the hot water tap on.

When the central heating wasn't on as much the noise started. I then learned to live with (ok i admit i was lazy) the noise as i rarely used the shower etc as i used the ones at the gym most days. But now as i am selling i want it to be fixed.

thanks
