Yes, yes, already I know that it is cheap boiler etc. However, it has lasted 4 years. I am aware it may have lived its life, and that is fine!

Basically, the boiler fires up for about 30 seconds, makes a rattle noise ( like something is loose inside it somewhere (cant work out where even when its all apart.

But, the pressure gauge goes from 1 bar to 2 bar, so I feel perhaps the 3 way valve or similar are stuck closed.

I will say the hot water side caused this first, then the heating also did it 24 hours later..

How do I check more?

check the expansion vesel has got air in it and not water the diaphrams do get a pinhole in them so the air dissapears and it fills wth water so then there is no where for the water to expand so then it will get noisy and in most cases will blow off through the 3bar valve to the outside
also i would check the pump is running ok

I did find that the pump was not working - doh.....

I should say that all this is after I put cleaner stuff in to flush the system out ready for some inhibitor as I believe there was none in the system...which of course that coupled with a cheap boiler is a total disater!

Ok, pump runs, heating gets hot.....now the hot water does not really heat. Sure it is luke warm, its a little better if the heating is on, but not the very hot it used to be. The boiler fires and runs fine..
