Hey Guys,

I am new to the Forum and joined to hopefully get some help with my diagnostics on my old boiler.

Here are the symptoms,

when the tap is turned for hot water there is no hot water available and the boiler is not firing. gas pilot on but not firing up to heat the water.

The central heating is working fine.

If the CH is on and i turn the tap for hot water the water gets hot for a period before eventually cooling right down to near enough mains pressure.

I was thinking after reading the owners manual and spending a bit of time reviewing other posts that this is a classic diverter fault.

I got a mirror and checked the operation of the plunger on the diverter and it does appear to be going in and out as the hot water tap is operated.

What's your thoughts?

Any help guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks

The pin has to operate the switch. Try doing that manualy.

Usualy its just a failed diverter !

Guys,

Cheers for the advice, i just thought i would run it past someone other than my wife!!!

I will check the Pin is triggering the microswich and i will get a Diverter Valve ordered tonight.

Sorry if i am pushing my luck but would anyone like to recommend a online supplier thats not to hard to pay?

Tighter than two coats of paint, ha ha.

Cheers

Homozo!!

Why replace the diverter valve when a £10 diaphragm may be all that is required. Your call.

To save hassle, agro and time i ordered a Diverter from Ezipart which will be sent to the house for Friday !

Friday afternoon's Job, Had a look at the OEM servicing instructions and there does not look much to it! Famous last words!!!

Acess looks a bit of a mare right enough, so i will get in about it Friday afternoon, the boiler will most probably be fixed or never work again.

Is there any tricks of the trade i should know about?

Ha Ha

Cheers for all your help guys!

Guys, New diverter fitted anf it appears that its all repaired!

If i was doing it again i would not have bought the valve i would have bought the repair kit and renewed the internals!

Thanks for all your help!!!!!

Thanks

Homozo!
