I've been reading these comments boards for a while and most of you seem to know what you are talking about!!!

I am about to undertake a little DIY - need urgent advice from someone who knows!!

I am rendering my external wall. I understand the mix etc and intend to prime the wall with PVA but can someone tell me if I should use waterproofer and when??? Any recommendations for waterproofer?

Also any issues of rendering over pebbledash??

Thanks :D

why are you using PVA?

to help with adhesion...?? Intention is to prime the wall (1:5) PVA, ;leave for 24 hours and do a render mix of 1:1:5 (cement, lime, sand).

Also some pebbledashed area almost impossible to take off so decided to render over it.

Any advice, gratefully received!!! ;)

I wouldnt use PVA externally for adhesion. What is the background? Your mix is too week for your scratch coat maybe 1-4 for your scratch with a waterproofer, then 1-1-5 for your top coat. ;)

cheers :)

background is brick/block...

any thoughts on rendering the p/d? scratch coat or just top coat?
