The Cummins turbo-diesel engine is plenty potent in stock form, but this particular powerplant now produces more than 700 horsepower and more than 1200 lb-ft of torque.

All of the hard work and dedication paid off when Project Sidewinder rolled onto the Bonneville Salt Flats on October 17, 2002--not on a trailer, but towing its own spare parts trailer.

Cummins DIESEL dragster runs 7.98 at 167.43 MPH on Blue Sun biodiesel!

For anyone unfamiliar with drag-racing, that means it accelerates from 0-167mph in 7.98 seconds, including the reaction time of the driver!

Who was it who reckoned diesels don't chuck out black smoke when given a bit of welly?
