It is physically possible but extremely unlikely that it would be.

Switch off the RCD and see if the shower still works, or at least has power.

I switched the RCD off yesterday, but the pull cord light still stayed on, so as you rightly said it's not protected by the RCD.

Is it just a case of someone coming in and moving the trip switch to the RCD side and job done?

Hoping not to spend more than £50, is that reasonable?
