I'm looking at the residence 9 window system and wondering if its worth having triple glazed as opposed to double in an 1890's brick built property? The cost difference isn't massive but my two questions are does it reduce the aesthetics of this system, and would you really notice a difference to heat loss / noise reduction? Hopefully someone else has had this dilemma and arrived at a conclusion.

I have fitted about 100 Residence 9 windows but they were all double glazed so far, So I cant really comment on the aesthetics for triple.

As a general rule though you wont really see a return on the extra cost of triple glazing through the savings in heat. If we were in a colder climate or if you have huge windows that are north facing or in the shade it may be worth doing.

For sound proofing triple glazing can actually be worse than double glazed.

It was only about £300 more for the lot so thought it would be beneficial..........but from your post it doesn't seem like the claimed benefits stack up in reality.

On the aesthetics you use the same astragal bar as on the front so do not get the thickness of the astragal bar from the inside as you would with double.
