Hi Guys,

I have a structural Engineer coming to the house soon re working out rsj, but just thought i would ask if i getting this right in my head. I am removing chimney from ground floor and 1st floor and leaving it in the 3rd floor which is bedroom and ensuite, so dont want to remove it because this is new room. The house is 3 storey victorian and has chimney breast in front rooms and backrooms, it is the back rooms i am removing. Over the phone with the SE i get that he is saying more than likely he will calc for an RSJ that will sit on the rear exterior house wall and then sit on the load bearing wall that seperates back bedroom and front bedroom. He says it will be fed through the back wall and then sit on the middle load bearing wall. If it can be hidden in the ceiling then great if not i will have to plaster it in and it will mean i slight drop in the ceiling but nothing major. I think this is what he was explaining, just wondered if this sounds like i have grasped the idea.
