rusty 3 port valve motor..went to B n Q one sunday got new one wired in exactly same and no work..got another one with eart wire and still no joy. put old one back kept in middle and all ok for a while..now given up ghost.lost top so not sure what make...r they all the same..screwfix doing kit for 60 odd pound all parts room thermostat valve motor etc..
help please as a few days of plumbing d.i.y coming up

thanks Steve..

oil fired totaly pumped etc

do you really need the whole kit or just a valve will do ?

you say none of the motors work.
i would check you have power on the white to the valve from the stat.

if no power then the stat or programmer faulty.
if you have power then just need a valve.

thanks seco..tried new valve a good time ago.wired up exactly same colours but didnt work :( .put old one back and motor's work etc.are wiring codes all the same.existing has 5 wires..replacment had 5 wires but no good so i thought for the money it might save a few trips into town ..
thanks steve :D :D

whole valve.didn't realise you could just do the motor...is now so corroded has ended up collapsing totally...false economy i know
thanks steve

yes 5 wire honeywell the best out of the selection.
if both failed i would say it a stat or programmer fault.

thanks again. :D :D is 5 wire honeywell same wiring as say another maufacturer..cant remember what i got last time from B and Q as was a sunday and only place open but kit was defently 5 wire ,same colours replaced as old original exactly but no go....do different manufactors use different colour codes to keep everyone on there toes
Thanks very much for the advice Steve
:D :D :D

their are a few with different colours but the standard ones used are the same.
honeywell, drayton seimens etc.

what didn't work before your heating ?

hi again
have had to have heating and hot water on at same time for a while now..now weather is getting warmer and the need for rads not so hopefully much. but of course got to have all on as valve lodged due to rust   will get hold of honeywell tomorrow hopefully for the price £70 ish will come with 3 way copper pipe valve as corroded as well :!:
thanks again for your time..Steve

:D
long time since ive done any schoolwork p.m.s.l

Put another 3 way valve in yesterday from plumbcentre.Assistant at shop assured me valve/pumps the same and would be ok..after fitting and still no life took plumb centre original fitting back and picked up a honeywell.
another evening of stress coming up..will keep all in formed.

red red wine :D :D :D

nice new honeywell valve fitted..no corosion or rust. No heating or hot water either ??? checked the voltage at the joint box and none anywere.
voltage going into programmer( drayton tempus 7) none coming out..as programmer is at least 9 years old think faulty..
any thoughts.

thanks steve

sounds like it.
you've not touched the programmer and knocked any wires out have you ?

hi seco thanks for the reply...
strange programmer as you lift unit away from wall leaving contacts attatched to wall with wires from fused power still in situ.programmer has push fit contacts that make the circuit.have turned water on/off.heating on/off etc but still no voltage to joint box below..
thanks steve
