Hello,

This might be a daft question but I'll ask anyway. I've always been taught to sand woodwork between coats for a better finish. Naturally I've always left each coat to fully dry and then sanded and recoated the next day. Anyway, reading the instructions on some primer I've just got it says it can be recoated in an hour. In this instance is sanding between coats still recommended? Surely the paint wouldn't be fully hardened after an hour and sanding would just ruin it? Thanks

Recoat is not the same as dry.
Recoat times are just that however you can't sand until dry.

Some primers you can denib and others you can't.

Zinsser BIN as an example is rock hard.
Zinsser Coverstain is high build and will denib nice as soft.
Acrylic primer undercoat will denib and other adhesion primers won't that well.
Lots on offer these days so pick the one that will do what you want
