Scaffold boards over stairwell

I seems like i am going to have to build a scaffold structure over my stairwell to paint the walls and ceiling.
Steps at either side and a scaffold board inbetween.

Question is, will say a 3.5m scaffold board be strong enough for a 12 stone person?
I have read about doubling up and using 2 boards ontop of each other.

will this be safe and secure?

Youngerman boards are always safer but you may not find one short enough for the job. I have always used planks between ladders / steps etc and am about 15 stone and had no problems. Sometimes ive used a ladder between other ladders and put a plank on the ladder.
