Been boarding and insulating my flat roof today. Done half, the rest tomorrow, then GRP Friday. The weather looks like it’s being kind. Rain would bugger it right up.

Bought Screwfix green VCL to go under the insulation - what a load of crap! Can only be described as sh1t carrier bag material. Add on to that doing it by yourself on a breezy day and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Wish I’d used a DPM now. A few quid more but so much stronger. Had to tape the hell out of holes and rips as I’m holding on to it flapping about. Found myself laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation. I’d place money on there being some unfixed holes. God knows how I’ll find out about them until the boards are rotten! You live and learn.

DPM has to be 100% but usually a vcl isn't so critical, it's just too reduce the condensation risk. Especially if it's sandwiched between ply and insulation, chances are you'll be fine.
