Sink waste fitting question

Hi Guys

I have just had a new worktop fitted in my utility room and we have a waste pipe coming in to the cupboard, which is a 40mm pipe but has not thread so looks like it is a coupling type connector. I can find no combination of parts which will allow me to connect my sink waste trap to this pipe. Can anyone suggest anything?
