SMEG inbuilt dishwasher won't start

After pressing the on switch no lights are coming on the display panel. After some considerable time of jiggling the door about I can sometimes get a connection and do a wash. Is this a door sensor problem or power problem and how can I solve it?javascript:emoticon('
