From what i can see from searching, i should be ok to add a tee piece to the pipework, despite its proximity to old solder joints.

Does this sound right? or should i use a compression joint instead?

Many thanks
james

In my experience it takes a lot more heat to unsolder a joint than it does to make one, so I would be confident you will be ok.

Just make sure there is no residual water in the pipes or it will be an impossible task. If you're unsure then go for compression fittings.

should be ok, just be quick & apply just enough heat to allow the solder to run and no more. You could also wrap the other connections in a wet cloth that will help to keep them cooler. Make sure the pipe doesn't move just in case the solder in the yorkies softens.
What's the worst that can happen, you have to re-solder them, no real disaster IMO.

While your on i would clean that green flux residue off the pipes, it'll eventually eat away at the copper.
