strange holes under house

decided to pull out the utilty room ready for the plasterer .

and have uncovered two cavens lol no treasure sadly.

any idea what these are for ? they are a mixture of concrete and floor boards which is strange because the house is concrete everywhere else

quite common in older houses.. they had pits for water from the roof for use in washing clothes and such..

my nan still has hers in the kitchen..
