I've a 1970's house.

I've unibonded wall then applied Super Crackstop mesh (1m wide) then skimmed with BG multi-finish.

However, cracks are re-appearing when I understood this mesh stuff is supposed to prevent spider-cracking.

House has no damp or structural movement and same is happening on 2 different walls.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Cheers

No experience with Super Crackstop mesh! Are they really just surface spider cracks? If significant, I always go back to the blocks to take a look as, chances are, the blocks or mortar joints are cracked as well. If this is the case the only chance you’ve got to stop them reappearing is to take a swathe of the plaster back to the blocks, locally repair & stick a 300mm wide lump of Stainless Steel reinforcing mesh over the crack; base coat or render & then skim; usually works but no guarantees!

Cheers mate....looks like I'd better dig a bit deeper

For info, Super Crackstop is a metre wide version self adhesive mesh (fibatape) which is supposed to help reinforce & prevent spider cracking over a wider surface area.
