Is there a problem with taking a spur from the power supply to the cooker in the kitchen, for 5amp/15amp supply, cheers

as long as the cooker is under 13A, you can connect it to the ring main
 
Turbine, whilst it is not ideal, so long as the supply you take is fed via a suitable fused Switched Fused Spur (FCU) then there is no problem with this in theory, however you must feed the spur with cable of the same size as the point is fed with (6mm or 10mm). This can be a real problem terminating into a spur. Infact the 10mm will not terminate in a Spur.
