im thinking of getting a fish tank which will hold about 120 uk gallons (after the waters weight + cabinet etc) it will weight about 750kg.

the floor joists are 4x2, they are supported every 5ft by brick built dwarf walls.

the joists are 16 inch to the centre. ive worked it out that the tank will sit over 4 joists (the weight will be evenly distributed over all 4 of them)

in the picture you will see the way the joists run and where the tank will be located.

just wanted a thumbs up tbh.

Should be ok. Theoretically they are stressed quite close to limit but in reality should be ok, although it depends on quality of the timber joists and the wall they are sat on.

Obviously stop filling the tank if anything starts to creak too much or dip in the middle.

ok thanks

the dwarf walls are built on a concreat base (no idea how deep etc). i also have not idea the grade of wood. there is nothing else on the joist's except a wall which is directly above a dwarf wall.

if we take the carpet up (to replace is there any easy way to brace the floor?

thanks
chris
