The pump for the underfloor heating stopped working. I tapped it with a hammer and it started again. The pump isn't so old 5 years grundfos. Any ideas why it seized up? The system is new only 5 years old too. So I'd hope not sludge.

It's a grundfos alpha 2.
What colour is the water circulating through the system. If anything darker than 'straw' then you could be right when you mention sludge.
