Hi all
Diving in with my first post here after being a long term lurker. I've searched for the answer to my problem, which has revealed a few possibilities but thought I'd post the problem to see if there's anything I've missed.
The root of my problem is inconsistent hot water in my bathroom.
I have a Vaillant Turbomax combi, and a newly installed Bathstore bathroom with a Metro (Crosswater, I believe) bath/shower thermostatic valve and Metro single-post mixer basin tap.
The bathroom is a floor below the kitchen. If I turn on the kitchen tap (very near to the boiler itself) I get scalding hot water.
If I turn on the bath filler I get water which isn't nearly as hot, and also fluctuates between hottish and lukewarm. The basin tap produces hot water, but it's not nearly as hot as the kitchen.
I have adjusted the bath/shower thermostatic valve to its max setting, with no improvement. I have also experimented with turning the cold supply to the bathroom off whilst filling the bath. This gives a slightly better result, but the water is still not nearly as hot as in the kitchen.
My diagnosis, from searching this and other forums, is that it could be a combination of
1. Faulty or gunked-up thermostatic cartridge
2. Scaled up heat exchanger in the boiler
3. Boiler not up to the job of supplying hot water to the bathroom
Any further ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!
