I’ve got a 10-year-old Vaillant Ecotec Pro combi boiler and a Mira thermostatic shower. The thermostatic cartridge was replaced in the shower last year, in an attempt to fix this problem.
Bath and sink taps run fine with no problems. Can fill a large bath without any cutting out.
But the shower keeps cutting out. It’s happening more often and without any clear pattern. It starts to cool, then the flow drops. After that, it goes ice cold and the flow suddenly increases.
The boiler shows no fault code when this happens. It also doesn’t show any hot water demand.
If I turn the shower off and try a hot tap, that’s cold too.
After a minute or so, everything works normally again—until it happens again.
