im in the process of installing an extractor fan in the ceiling of my bathroom, folks have already helped re wiring (thanks).

Ive taken the ducting up and cannot find any ventilated area in the loft. Just wondering can i get anything that i can run the ducting to and leave it there, i.e. some kind of condensation trap. Or is my only option to make a hole in the wall.

If so whats the best wayt of doing this.

Thanks

whats a soffit vent, sorry im not very technical.

in the loft its simply an apex roof, with brick walls going up.

The soffit is a horizontal board between the fascia and the brickwork. The fascia is the vertical bit to which guttering is generally attached. If you have this kind of roof construction you might be able to take ducting over the top of the brickwork, down into that space behind the fascia and then out through the soffit.

The nice thing about this kind of vent is that it's very well protected from both rain and UV. The difficult bit is getting the duct through. Hint: have the bath ready before you start - and the beer!

Don't vent into the loft space, even with a condensation trap. You must take the ducting to the outside.

And you might still need a condensation trap, depending on the angles at which the ducting runs.
