Wallpaper stripping

My partner is stripping off living room wallpaper with a steamer.
The problem is not getting it stripped to the bare wall. Any recommendations on how to do this effeciently? And does the wall be plastering once the paper is removed?

Also there is a larger two handed version .
Adhesive has to be scraped while still warm from steam , work top to bottom so water from steam is presoaking wall below .
 
You can also use a spiked roller or a Paper Tiger such as this....
The steam or even just water will then penetrate and make the job much easier.
As for plastering, you will not know until you have uncovered it all so fingers crossed it will no be too bad for you.
