I have hot and cold water upstairs but down stairs the hot water is not running , when i put the tap on it trickles out then stops

What sort of tap is it? Can you turn the knob more than about 1/4 of a turn?

Has it been OK up till now?

It could be the tap or you may have an air lock.

its an upright tap and it will turn about a quater of the way round its been ok uptill now

Has the water supply been interupted at all recently.
Did this problem suddenly appear?

no the water has not been of and it just started today

Kitchen mixer tap?

Do you have more than 1 hot tap down stairs? If so are they both not working?

Do you have isolation valves on the pipes under the sink/basin?

Tell me all so I don't have to keep asking!!

i think it was an air lock my dads haveing a look tomorrow was hoping to fix it my self any way thanks for all the help

it won`t be an airlock unless you have drained your hot water system lately. Your hot water tap`s knackered. or you may have depleted your reserve (cylinder)

thanks for all your help with my tap it was the tap as it turned out i now have a new one fitted and thanks to you saved having to call out a plumber so once again thank you to all of you
