Waterproofing a standard install

Hi I’m doing a bathroom fit. On floorboards and brick skimmed walls. Shower bath basin and toilet.

the floors I’ll use hardie backer.

for the walls I have used tanking kits in the past. I presume this is overkill? Should I just buy the tape which goes between the bath edge and under tile? Thoughts?
