what does the green party stand for

Transport:
"Bring the railway system back into public ownership and spend £2 billion on new track and rolling stock, and on urban tram schemes - together creating 20,000 jobs.
• Reduce UK rail fares by one third to bring them in line with the European average through a £3 billion subsidy. "

Wholey inadequate. We need a long term plan, and spend 10s of billions on our rail network. And a whole culture change as to how we approach the subject of railways.

This kind of crap annoys me.

Why should I have to pay for someone else to have cheaper travel.

indeed you already do if you live in bucks you pay some of the highest fares per mile in the uk.

perhaps you also agree that postage charges should be variable, with the less profitable routes having a higher levy, or perhaps if economically unviable, no service at all.

Are you saying money that Chiltern railways takes goes to fund other railways?

Otherwise your comment doesn't make sense.

Pretty much.

But then that is another argument, even if you think it's fine to subsidise one thing, doesn't mean we have to subsidise everything.

most definitely, it subsidises the tube, which as you know it shares tracks with, it also subsidies or pays money to virgin on the west coast mainline (via london midland). Having travelled on both for over 30 years they've both had a fair amount of my cash.

Thats partly why ur fares are so high.

anyhow your argument doesn't stack up, its not economically viable to cable, pipe, or internet enable parts of the country, probably not even putting roads in.
