When selecting a new combi, what is the minimum flow rate from a boiler that would give a reasonably good shower through a thermostatic mixer?

That all depends on the showerhead(s) you are going to use. Due to the popularity of green issues, the market now offers showerheads that only need about 6l/min and still give a decent shower.
A more important question is: what quality boiler do we want? (most important question: where do we find a good installer)

I have always advised oversized combis, as the price difference on the total job between the smallest, and one that will feed 2 showers simultaneously is only about 10 - 15% of the total price. Never had anyone come back to me after a couple of years, saying they regretted getting the big one. Have heard plenty people complain the boiler wasn't big enough. (not my clients obviously)
