What paint to use to go over this?

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can suggest the correct paint to paint over this as I'm sick of the sight of it (as you can imagine).

Also what would be the correct way to prep it for painting as well. i'm not looking to turn it into the Ritz on my budget, I just want to change the colour so the room feels bigger

Give it a good rub down in the direction of the grain.

Coat of Dulux supergrip or melamine primer then a couple of coats of emulsion

Id go for a light colour
