Hi
I am having a new house built on some land at the bottom of my Garden.
I have seen the drawings and the incomming mains supply is on one side of the proposed new house and i would rather the consumer unit not be positioned in the kitchen where the mains comes in.

I have spoken to the electrician and he mentions he can only run tails 3 meters before he will have to protect the tails at the supply with a breaker etc. The new distance is approx 4.25 mtrs from supply

My question is what protection is required if the tails were to run though the house and how deep trenches need to be and would i have to pay for armored cable etc

I am not atempting to do the work but would just like another point of view

isn't there a rule about there should be an isolator on the incoming supply in the meter housing if the meter tails are more then x metres long ??

hi my only issue is what protection is required for the cable.
do i have to get a trench dug.

Has work started on new build?

If not get drawings ammended and contact DNO to have new position of incoming supply.
