Hi all, long time lurker first time poster etc… Confused about how to or whether I need to earth a new light.

Need to change a knackered fluorescent 2D bathroom light tray tempImageGC59RR.png with a new LED one tempImage5Hlxia.png. I’m happy with how to connect the live and neutral from the existing terminal and wago up to the terminal on the new tray using the relevant wire from a 3 core.

However, on the outgoing unit the tray is metal and it earths using the little nubbin on the tray directly into the relevant earth terminal, but the new unit is entirely plastic, Class II, and while it has an earth terminal on the new driver it’s not wired to the tray’s terminal like the L and N. Is it right that I don’t need to earth it - I just leave the earth going into the white terminal as is and tidy it away?

If it matters there’s an extractor fan and a shaver socket/light in the same room all controlled by the one light switch.

Please call me an idiot if need be but it seems a shame to pay £100+ for an electrician to wire this up when it could be totally doable. Thanks very much!

Put the earths in the spare middle connection, the fitting doesn't need an earth but the earth needs to continue on to wherever it goes.

You've got a class 2 symbol on the new fitting.
