Hi everyone,

The sill on our conservatory door is incredibly rotten. I believe it is due to lack of maintenance by the previous owner.

As you can see the door rail/track appears to be integrated into the sill itself. What would be the easiest/best way to renew the sill?

I'm pretty confident at DIY tasks being an electrician by trade however when it comes to sliding doors I have very little knowledge.

Am I likely to have to remove the doors from the conservatory to renew the rotten timbers? If so any pointers on how they may be fixed to the conservatory itself? I believe the left hand door jamb may also need splicing as there is signs of rot in the bottom 2 inches or so.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ

Basically your taking rotten bits out and putting new bits back just to state the obvious, try to avoid square butt joints use mitre joints glue and screw the joints together polyurethene glue wuld be good for the joints, its good for gap filling and is moisture cure ,be warned it is bloody messy stuff
