The machine fills with water, takes soap but the drum does not move. The programme moves on automatically at each letting in and letting out stage of water. NO SPINNING! Is this a motor problem? Machine is now 7 years old is it worth getting repaired?

Could also be a faulty start capacitor if the motor is an induction type. Check belt. Possibly also could be the motor speed control board or "module". No way of testing other than replacement with known good unit. Check out http://www.2ndwave.co.uk/manual.html for useful info.
