ceremic tiles on plasterboard

If I tile plasterboard with ceremic tiles will it be waterproof enough to use in a shower unit or will the water seep through to the plasterboard. Should I use marine-ply to tile on instead?

It will eventfully, best to use Aquapanel tile backing board which you can buy from Wickes.
